Wisconsin Ranks No. 10 in Bison Production in the United States
According to the USDA census report for 2002 that came out in June 2004, Wisconsin is the tenth largest bison producing state in the United States. In addition, Wisconsin ranks number 3 in the total number of bison producers. In 2002 ( the year of the census) there were 236 producers (...more than we thought) and 8315 animals. 95 farms sold 1272 animals in 2002. Barron County had the most animals(788) followed by Sauk County (714), St. Croix County (617), Marathon County (565) and Fond du Lac County (399).
